Nethack is really old game. Graphical Nethack (3.22) is not really old, but the elder Nethacks and Nethack's predecessors are.
Rogue is Nethack's predesessor, in fact it is the first Hack-like game on PC. Rogue isn't so much RPG to me, you have to play with the rogue instead of choosing your race/job, which makes it RoguePlayingGame (and not RolePlayingGame). Rogue's Quest was a disappointment to me. It just didn't feel good, the taste was gone with the old graphics. It was like a 40-feet in a 47-shoe. Some people may still like the game, but not me.
He started the game luckily, as it was full moon. Bravely with his little dog, he started his quest to get the Amulet Of Yendor. He had some maps with him and he read one, knowing now the first dungeon level. With two great kicks he destroyed the western door and went trough it. He went little way west the corridor and arrived in to a room, where he saw a scroll, a gem and some money. He took the stuff and read the scroll. "DAMN THIS SCROLL!!!" -he yeld, because it was a forgetting-scroll. Again he kicked open a door but this time a jackal attacked him. Poor thing, it didn't know what it was up against, Antti killed the jackal. As he was just going to a new room, a newt attacked him. This little felloe was even more easy than the jackal. Antti picked some money from this new room and ran out to the next corridor. In a new room he found was a grid bug, which he killed. He took some darts from the floor and went back to the starting room, because it was the only way. There he continued east to a new corridor. There was a grid bug and a newt in another room he found, and those animals are no more. He continued east, where he found stairs to a new level. (by the way, he was killed on the third level by a Water Elemental)
